Situation report Tuesday , December second, eleven thirty AM:. Cows , good. bulls, good. horses , good. cats , good.

About three years ago , in our local cafe , sitting at the table of knowledge , I was snickered at for thinking that our phones are listening to us and the ads are being tailored based on our conversations. The mockery has since quieted down a bit and as most people are aware , this is in fact happening on a grand scale , and there is no point in denying it anymore.
I run a small business, and around a decade ago I was considering paying for some advertising with google. I spoke to their sales rep, and I said that the phones are listening to the people and they are giving up information that the advertising companies are using to their advantage. Isn’t that how this works? And what I got in response was not a denial , but rather an awkward silence. To me , this was indicative that i’m not so far off the target. In fact, I can’t help but think that the reality may be even worse than that.
After all, we should understand that every business is in business to make money and it would be a great advantage to know which people are thinking of acquiring the product which we sell. There’s nothing even that sinister about it. It makes perfect sense. Why wouldn’t companies avail themselves of this obvious advantage?
Politicians , statesmen , governmental officials might also be interested in what the people are saying when the door is closed and the lights are off. And this is where the situation gets a little more dire. Here In socialist/communist Canada, as in other countries, bills are being put forward to stifle voices of opposition to the current direction our officials are taking us. Will we surrender to the point where even our private discussions can land us in jail?I don’t know, but it doesn’t look like an impossibility anymore.. considering the average canadian’s response to being invited to suffer house arrest for the crime of breathing.
I’m currently visiting saskatchewan where cattlemen are talking about the possibility of being able to remove all fences and not having to maintain them anymore and simply colloring the livestock as if they were pet dogs and giving them a shock when they stray a little too close to the boundary. Might do the trick. It might be possible to remove all the fences and contain the cattle through geofencing. I’m a bit slow, so it took me about 3 or 4 days to make the connection between how this would be possible and how it would also be possible to keep us within our smart cities.
. If you don’t care for personal freedom and fully trust the intentions of the fancy class this presents no risk to you whatsoever , but if you do value getting in your car and travelling to a city without asking someone’s permission to leave , you may want to consider what steps we could take to reduce the likelihood of this possibility. We are literally paying for our future potential captivity! Every time we pay a bill pertaining to the internet, we are helping our overlords to acquire the resources needed to complete our captivity.

What is the solution to the problem? Few would deny that cell phones have been a real boon, as far as distributing knowledge in an unprecedented scale. One feels a little stupid, pondering a question for 6 months or a year and then realizing that you could simply ask your phone and you’d have had the answer in seconds.. Some of us that have made a few more tracks than the younger ones remember the times prior to the computer age when it was not possible to contact someone without knowing where they were. It seems almost ludicrous today to think back to a time when nearly every call beyond forty miles was considered to be long distance and triggered charges. And then to consider that these days , the poorest of the poor can speak face to face with someone on the other side of the world often for next to nothing. It’s crazy.
I am writing this article by speaking into my cell phone and watching the words being typed onto the screen as I speak. And while I’m not interested in giving up my cell phone just yet, I am seriously considering ways to mitigate the amount of data being stolen off my phone without my permission. One method I find useful is to leave my phone behind most of the time. It sits in an empty house vainly seeking information, which is simply not there as I am about my business. Those who call or text will be dealt with when i return. I may in the countryside, i may be in the city who knows? . No way to be tracked. No way to have my random thoughts and discussions recorded. It’s tragic really.
There are other ways of communicating such as spot and inreach should a dire situation present itself. And I do find it rather freeing not to have the phone ring while I’m busy doing this or that and I enjoy the peace. I also get more work done when there is no phone to consult. If I must take my cell phone with me and I’m driving I place it on airplane mode. I’ve been experimenting with that, putting my phone in a faraday case in airplane mode when it’s not supposed to send a signal at all and noticing how the battery drops considerably overnight. In the faraday case, it is not communicating, but apparently it is attempting to communicate something! It’s little here am I signal every 10 minutes, or whatever? And becoming frustrated with the fact that there is no response to the poor cell phone. I guess it’s lonely when it’s not in reach of a cell tower or a five g tower.
Maybye, you’ve been receiving random adverts about how to stop tinnitus. There is a clear correlation between turning on your data and the ringing of the ears, even itching in the ears, and I believe it has to do with the power of the 5G signal. Which, as you’re likely aware, is very similar, if not identical to the microwaves in your microwave oven. It is a very short wavelength, I believe it’s 412, and it clearly has an effect on our physiology. I also note that when I’m away from my cell phone I feel better, I feel more relaxed, less agitated..

Of course, farbeit from me to suggest that anyone follows these ideas of mine , but if you have a mind to try some experimentation of your own , it would be interesting to see what results you might find. And if nothing else weaning yourself from the internet for a period of time, taking a week off from reading the news on your favorite news feed and checking the phone once a day instead of 200 times a day, countermeasures like these will free up time for you to pursue interests that are more meaningful. I do not believe anyone wants to come to their senses in ten years and realize they have no idea where ten of their best years just went.
And so to summarize: For all the benefits of the ubiquitous smartphone, some problems exist which require deliberate effort to mitigate. How to proceed? Here is a short list of suggestions:
~ hammer/anvil
~ keep your phone in one location in the home. ie the bathroom.
~ keep a notebook and pen handy and record things you need to check online and limit yourself to doing these things once or twice a day, for example at noon.
~ use a wristwatch to limit the frequency of consulting your phone, because as we all know, that is how a few hours of scrolling frequently begin, by checking the time.
~ get some books and rediscover how enjoyable they can be.
~ keep your data off during the day, or limit it to wifi only. 5G and it’s soon to appear evil brothers 6G and 7G are extremely powerful and affect our bodies in ways we cannot imagine. (Ears ringling, itching sensations that mysteriously disappear when the data is off, a general feeling of anxiety which also disappears when the data is off for extended periods, etc.)
~ consider going to a very basic phone and limiting your online time to time on the computer at home.
~ if you are on social media it might not be the end of the world to turn off the notifications or even mute notifications entirely for certain periods of time. The phone you are paying for is for your use after all, And most of us can be reached in an emergency through other means if necessary.
It can be challenging to free yourself from any addiction and there is something about these devices which makes it very difficult to regain one’s time freedom from them. Ideally, many of us will realize that we can live without these life-sucking gadgets and discard them entirely, or at least restore them to someplace they will like better, like a bathroom for example where they will be checked a couple of times a day at least anyway.
The goal of these actions, should you choose to implement any of them is twofold: Firstly to regain you your time, which will automatically be put to much better use in the garden, or your shop, or even having a real conversation somewhere. And secondly, by placing your phone on house arrest, you will be depriving the data industry of valuable resources, and that by itself, is surely reason to smile, is it not?
